No Sound(Please Help)

(Im not sure if this first paragraph has any thing to do with my problem or not)

I Recently Took My Computer Old E machine's PC That Just Fried It's Mother Board To A Local Computer Place Along With an Old HP that I recently had received from a friend who just bought a Mac and had no need for it. All it needed was a new OS. The guy swapped out my hard drive and uploaded all it's information onto another as well as reinstalled a larger HD. He did alot of other stuff and all I know is it cost me $170 and what was suppose to take 3 days took 2 weeks.

To get to the point the computer's been running just fine except for the problem that I couldn't originally play videos or music for longer than 2 seconds. I Opened my PC and checked the sound card which was loose and so i tightened it and ran a large Scan disk on my computer. Now I can play music and videos all the way through but still no sound.. I triple checked all my sound options and even reinstalled my sound card drivers it said it was up to date and exited the installation. At First I thought it was because I was using my emachine's speakers but today I bought some universal ones and still no sound.

My Sound Card Is: Sound Blaster Audigy 2
My OS: Is Windows XP
My Modem: Is a HP 700

My thought at this point is the computer expert screwed something up. I'm sorry this is so long I just have had a lot of experience with computer issues and they always ask for lots of detail. I feel stupid for not realizing that this was not a simple issue of speakers.

I Fixed The Problem

I Went To Hp's website and apparently my On Board Audio BIOS was Set to an Auto Instead Disabled Or enabled. So I followed the instructions and at the moment I have both A Sound Card and my On Board. I just have my on board running when windows came on it took awhile but eventually it found the software/Audio Driver for my speakers and I once again can hear sounds.

Thankyou All who looked
