Keyboard and mouse freeze

hi, my problem is that whenever i open youtube, winamp or a game, my mouse and keyboard will freeze but everything else would continue running, like for example the music in winamp or the video in youtube

it started all yesterday when haved installed sims 2 downloaded from a torrent, i execute the game and it was running slow, nothing strange, then suddenly the mouse buttons froze, i could move the cursor in screen but it wont register the clicks, i type: ctrl+alt+delete so the task manager appeared, but the cursor showing was the same one of the game and i couldnt type anything else nor click in the mouse so i reset the computer from the button,

then i started it again and inmediatly uninstalled and deleted the remaining files of the "sims 2" game, and it was working normal, i execute and anitivirus for just in case, its the "AVG free edition" then i opened winamp while waiting to show the results, and then the mouse and keyboard freezed again, so i reset the pc and started again, then i just leaved the antivirus and msn messenger running, then i received a link to a video from youtube so i clicked and the mouse and keyboard freezed, i thought it was something about the heat inside so i turn off and went to sleep

now this morning opened youtube in "mozilla firefox" and the mouse and keyboard worked correctly, and then i made the test in "internet explorer" opened youtube and runned a random video, and just after the video started, the mouse and keyboard froze,

i dont know how to correct this problem, seems to be something about the video or sound card i dont know, can someone help me correct this problem?

i dont know the version of my xp nor any other information requested in the "read first" topic in this forum, sorry, if anyone tells me how to get to that info i will post it in here just in case its nessesary

hey!! good news but still the problem persists, and i hope someone here can help me

i reduce the problem of the keyboard (except for the ctrl+alt+delete) and mouse (but not the cursor) freezing

it all reduces to the volume control button in the keyboard, its this circle shaped button to get the volume upped or downed directly without you have to lower it manually by giving clicl on the "speaker" to the left of the hour set ( to the left and down)

soo i can navigate and open winamp and all, but as long as i dont touch that button,

i have the lower or high the volume manually, which is not a pain after the big scare i got, but anyway it is not supposed to work like that, because just yesterday, before installing sims 2 and all, i was using that button and everything seemd to work fine,

soo any suggestions on how to fix it??



the button is the one to the upper right, as soon as i touch it, the keyboard and mouse freezes

i solved this problem by following instructions of jephree, a mod of other forum, here is just in case someone has the same problem as i did:

"all this started after having installed the "sims 2" game i downloaded from a torrent"

Use a System Restore point prior to this installation.

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
