Unhappy Start Up Cunundrum

I have a simple system Dell 8500 serieis. 3 Ghz Processor. 1 GB Ram
Nvidia 5500 G-Force - Checks out
Sound Blaster - Seems ok
AVG Anti-Virus- Up to date Scanned clean
Syngate Personal Firewall - Never had a problem

Recently for no apparent reason the computer stopped being able to boot up normally. The windows Splash screen comes up and about 15-20 seconds into it the little blue bar stops moving and stays that way.

I've attempted system restore once before and it resolved the "issue" but it has come back and this time system restore won't work.

3 things have been added and are suspected.
First I added an HP Color LaserJet CM1015 Printer to the system. (USB Printer)
Java 10 has been updated.
Windows Media Player 10

Safe Mode works perfectly well. But even using Msconfig to order a complete clean boot the problem still occurs on a normal boot.

I have run RegCure and that doesn't seem to have done any good.

I suspect the problem is something incredibly simple but I can not tell the boot log has been stopping at the following lines.

Loaded driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\Cdfs.SYS
Did not load driver Intel Processor
Did not load driver Intel Processor
Did not load driver NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500
Did not load driver Intel(R) 537EP V9x DF PCI Modem
Did not load driver Communications Port
Did not load driver ECP Printer Port
Did not load driver SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio
Did not load driver Audio Codecs
Did not load driver Legacy Audio Drivers
Did not load driver Media Control Devices
Did not load driver Legacy Video Capture Devices
Did not load driver Video Codecs
Loaded driver \SystemRoot\System32\DRIVERS\ndisuio.sys
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\DRIVERS\rdbss.sys
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\DRIVERS\mrxsmb.sys
Loaded driver \SystemRoot\System32\DRIVERS\srv.sys
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\DRIVERS\ipnat.sys

But I am not even sure if this is the normal (and aborted boot log) or if this is the bootlog for getting into safe mode (which would be incredibly useless)

I seriously wish XP had a step by step confirmation process like 98 did.. apparently this feature was simply too darn useful to be included.

I'm stumped. Any and all help would be apprecaited. As I said I suspect it is something very simple.

(Yes I've read a bunch of threads on this topic, but I felt I should start from scratch yet again.)

have you tried tapping 'F8' repeatedly as soon as the PC starts up, then selecting "Last known good configuration' when the Advanced Startup Menu appears?
