Blue dot on left corner of desktop

Hello, I have had this problem for a while now. It sounds funny, but I have this small square light blue dot that appears on the very left top side of my desktop. It doesn't appear when I open my windows, it just shows on my desktop. Whenever I push the "shortcut to close windows" button, it goes away only to return when I maximize a window.

I have just noticed that when I click on it, my windows media player desktop button selects itself.

Is this anything to be worried about?

Not to freak you out, but it sounds like something you'd find in either a virus, or something you installed.

If you installed a new version of the media player, or if you changed your settings for it, it's nothing to worry about... otherwise, run an antivirus program.
