quicktime removal

I've got a problem with removing quicktime from my system.
I've removed it thru add+remove programmes, I've also done a search of files and folders and deleted the 4 i found.
I've done a search on google about this and apparently even after removal it interferes with veiwing TIFF images.
I'm guessing this is why when starting Windows Media Player i get an error message about looking for quicktime.I'm also getting playback problems(when it does play)
Can anyone give me any info on how to sort this out.
Will i have to re-install win media player to fix it ?

I'd appreciate any help i can get.

Thanks.

* Use the Add/Remove Software Control Panel to remove QuickTime as explained by the Apple knowledge base article 60342 QuickTime: How to Uninstall QuickTime on a Windows-Compatible Computer.
* Use Windows Start, Find, Files or Folders... to locate all files on your hard disk named npqtplugin*.* (typically npqtplugin.dll, npqtplugin2.dll and npqtplugin3.dll). They will probably be in the Plugins folder of your Internet Explorer installation.
* Exit all Internet Explorer windows and delete the plug-in files identified above.
* Re-boot the computer.
* Start Internet Explorer and test TIFF viewing. If TIFF images are not displayed, re-install your TIFF viewing software.

You will find 6 dll and a quicktime file in the plugin folder - delete them. Hope this helps. You may be able to simply reassociate tiff files in your viewer to get up and running.

Talking Ok lets think......

First of all the reason it keeps opening certain files is because Quicktime has a Codec's that plays certain file types and it has a very annoying image viewer.

A simple way to remove the image issue is right click on a image file pref the file type you having issues with and then;

Right Click on File > Go down to Properties > Under General tab (it says Open With.....) click change

then a new dialog opens and u change it to what u want that type of images to open with E.g. Paint , Windows Image Viewer once you have choose press Apply or Ok and then Apple shouldnt try and open it again!!

With the media player issue

do the same thing but just with an Audio file and then say Open With Windows Media Player

And Apple hopefully bother you again.

Registry!

remove registrys values to remove the applefiles total

go to Start > Run and type "regedit" and then press Ctrl + F that opens the find dialog and type!

"Quicktime"

And delete any values it come up with then dont mess with anythink else

Hope this helps
