Unhappy no sounds

HI all,
I have a problem with the system sounds, like email notifications and start-up and shut down sounds. Everything was ok yesturday, but now my computer speaker beeps instead of hearing the sounds like new mail etc. this is the third time this happened to me. the only thing i did last night was burn a dvd with ulead dvd pictureshow2, now 2day, i got no system sounds. Everything else works ok, any help here??

PC beep would indicate no sound card - chech that after volume settings of course

Yup, check sound card drivers, and under device manager to see if your card is working properly.

And also check that you speaker plug is connected ... (Mine gets kicked out now and then)

yep make your sound card is stil sitting properly in the pci slot if it is a good idea is to delete your sound acrd drivers then a do a fresh rewinstall of them, it worked for me in the past, i ahve had the same problem and reinstalling the drivers has worked for me, your drivers may well of got corrupted
