Problem booting up

Hey guys... Was just surfing around looking for some helpful information and came across this forum. Hopefully someone can help me here.

Here's the problem.

I built a new PC from the ground up. EVERYTHING is new and ready to boot up (or so I thought.) I plugged in my monitor and my pc. When I press the power button, it goes on for about 2 seconds, the lights light up and then it shuts down.. Nothing comes up on the monitor.

Does anyone know what issues could cause this?

EDIT - Also... All 3 fans go on for about 2 seconds as well. Then everything just shuts down. The mobo light is on.

Open up your side panel and see if you have any popped capacitor.....I know you said the PC in new but I have seen this before:

If you don't see any visible damaged capacitor then I would open the power supply and do the same thing.....either your power supply or your motherboard cut the power 2 seconds because one of the capacitor is failing.

ok.. I didn't see anything on the mobo. I'll try and take apart the ps this week. Thanks for your help!
