changing the my computer xp icon

specifically, can the my computer icon for xp (a blue moniter/comp) looking thing, be changed to say a matrix icon. i downloaded a program that does it for you but if cant seem to change it. i figure with all the stuff that can be hacked these days there must be a way to change the xp desktop icons. so, is there a way? thanks for any help

I am not sure, but if you create a shortcut for it then you can change its icon easily (Right Click > Properties > Change Icon). After that just go to "Desktop Items" and turn off "My Computer". Now only the shortcut with your icon will be shown.

follow these simple steps ...

Right Click a blank area of your desktop.

Select the 'Desktop' tab

In the 'General' tab click the 'My Computer' icon then select the 'Change Icon' button.

From here you can browse for the icon you want.

wow its that easy, dont i feel like an idiot. damn xp, so many options its difficult to do the most simple of things. you think they would have an option when you right click and icon to change it. thanks for ur help.
