Do you mean *cloning* your entire hard drive to another one? Most importantly, a bootable clone? That's no problem.
All the major manufacturers of hard drives offer free utilities that can make bootable clones. (WD, Seagate, etc.) Go to the company's website and download it. Western Digital offers DataLifeguard, Seagate offers Seatools, Maxtor offer(ed) MaxBlast. Dunno about MaxBlast anymore since Seagate took over Maxtor. No matter, they're all remarkably similar.
I use DataLifeguard a good deal and no longer use the others, as they won't coexist happily on the same computer. DLG, for instance, will complain if you're trying to clone to a drive not made by WD. Nevertheless, it will do the requested operations anyway after you close the notification.
Here's the deal: Make certain you specify that the copy is to be *bootable*. Otherwise, it is NOT a bit-for-bit copy and will not boot up.
Good luck.
