No Sound and update to SP2

Please help.

I currently have WinXP SP1.

I recently clicked on the update to SP2, but when it finished my screen resolution was shot to hell and I couldn't get it above 800*600 and the appearance was reminicent of Windows in Safe Mode. Did I install SP2 incorrectly?

In the end I had to do a new install of windows, now I find I have no sound! Can anyone point me in the direction of a fix for both issues.

We need more information from you, what computer do you own? Is it built in sound or does it have its own sound card?
