Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk....

Hi All,

I have a Compaq Presario SR1303WM Mini Tower computer w XP. I have dialup and was offline and I hit the button to check my email so it was dialing up...then the monitor screen went dark.

Turned off the computer, waited a bit and then turned it on. It held at that screen for a while where you can press ESC or F1. Then it went to a dark screen which said:

"Disk boot failure, Insert system disk and press enter."

I don't think I have a system disk for this computer. I found one for my other computer that has Windows ME but it didn't help.

What do you think is the matter and what would be some diagnostic steps I could take? I appreciate your help. Thanks.

Mick
