Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool

I'm trying to remove/prevent this tool from running, and have yet to find anything on how to stop it. I'm on XP Home, SP2. Anyone have any ideas or solutions?

Why would you not want it to run? Security is the issue but if you want to stop it go to the ling and look at Q:12 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/890830

I do, since it's not clear what could be malicious.
Remove it and don't download any more versions.

Yeah Monty. I really don't trust Microsoft to handle my security. Either way, the issue is still not resolved since Q12 only says you don't have to subscribe to it. Any other ideas on how to remove an already installed version?

Well thats your choice but is there any evidence that it will cause harm or is it more bloatware on your PC?
You certainly would not use it as your only defence in virus/spyware protection, if you did you would be mad.

I've never installed a piece of anti-spyware or anti-virus on any computer I've owned, and I've never had any problems with it. I told my friend that and he thought I was dumb. We ran Ad-Aware and I had a few tracking cookies. I'm smart enough to keep my computer free of that stuff without the help of any 3rd parties. Regardless, the problem got solved on another forum. I can see why you're so against removing it though. Hell Windows Defender is at the top of your Windows Space. Have fun taking it in the ass from Microsoft

And if users think that Lavasoft's Ad-Aware is going to find, let alone eradicate today's malware, think again.

It takes far superior software programs than the aforementioned, with the inclusion, in some cases, of using specialized bespoke utilities.

I remember WD let's certain items pass "undetected", and if you don't know yet, M$ has been silently installing updates without permission. They and their software are not trustworthy.

Thats my point I never have said in any post past or present that Im a MS fan I only give advice on what I do whether people agree or not.

that malicious software removal tool is just a crap from microsoft mate, it down't find anything, it doesn't remove anything, a crapware from microsoft morons, it seems they are blind and ignorant to all internet threats. the online applications i trust are Avast, SuperAntiSpyware, Spybot S&D,
