Question Windows XP, Java

Hello to all, first time on this forum.

I have Win. XP Home (SP2) using Internet Explorer. A few weeks ago I had to reinstall Win on my Dell Dimension 8400.
I am having a problem reinstalling and getting Java to function.
When I install it-it shows up ok in add/remove programs, however it does not do anything for the programs which need it.
I uninstall it and do a search "all files" and it tells me there are 24 files in 24 folders. 6 in C, 13 in bin, 3 in lib/security, 1 in npds.
Do I have to get "rid" of these files and how do I do same? Do I need a software program to do that?

I also did a registry check and was advised of over 200 registry problems, I am interested in your take on how to fix them.

Thanks in advance.
honda.

Hi, unless you know what you are deleting in the reg stay away as you can cause more problems than good. As for Java try the link I have never had a problem with it http://www.java.com/en/download/help/
