Bizarre Boot Problem
OK - here's a strange one. I need to do a complete reinstall of XP Home edition, it's over 3 years old and is increasingly unstable. I have my XP disc and have put it in ready for a cd boot. When I switch on it tells be to 'press any key' to boot from CD which i do, but then Windows starts normally. I have been into the Bios and changed the order to CD drive for first boot and I still get the same - in fact, even if i disable all other bootable drives Windows still starts up normally! !
The drive seems to be working ok with every other application, the XP disc will even start up to thewelcome screen when it's in Windows!
Any help? I'm sort of at the end of my tether after 2 days trying to get to the safe haven of
