Recover a domain user to a local user

My PC was once part of a domain and I log in as a domain user. Now my PC has been physically disconnected from the domain but I was still able to log in as a domain user with the local profile.

But I did a dumb thing today. Before copying the domain user profile to a local user profile, I change my PC to a local work-group machine. Now what I can do to recover the old domain user profile and save/copy to a local user profile. The old one is still present locally, but showing up in user profile as "Account Unknown"?

Thanks in advance.

Log on as the local admin of the computer.

Right-click My Computer icon and select Manage from menu. Click Local Users and Groups and create a local user account in there.

You can then log onto the new account locally.

I have created a local account. But the thing is, I 'd like to keep the old profile of the old domain user, such as desktop settings, web bookmarks, program settings, or even after logging in, the "my document" directory would be the same.

Yes, that's the last resort if I have too. But that only gives you a copy of the files. I have to then restore many of the program settings, like web bookmarks, cookies, email settings in outlook, desktop configurations, etc.

Anyway, thanks for your help and I'll just copy them over when everything else failed.
