Question No sound please help

Hey everyone
Im new to this forum and im in desperate need for help
Ive been having trouble with my sound and i dont know what to do. Even my volume control is shaded so i cant higher or lower it. I dont know whats wrong?
When i try to play a file in Real Player for example i get a message saying " Cannot open the audio device. Another application may be using it".
If you need more info please ask.
I wish you answer asap

Hi... Im new here and have had the same problem (amongst many others) recently...

I fixed this problem by changing the audio setting in BIOS....

When you boot your computer press either DEL or F8 to enter settings (depends on how old the computer is) before windows starts

Select Integrated Peripherals

Select OnChip PCI Device

Select Audio Controller

Select "Enabled"

Be sure to save these settings before you exit

I hope this works for you

thank u Diane, but when i pressed F8 i got "run windows in safe mode" not what u said.
And another problem in "Sounds and Audio Device Properties" it says " No Audio Device" and in under the volume tab,everything is grayed out and and in the sounds tab its grayed out and in the audio and voice tabs everything is grayed out.

Hi

If this is not the menu you are getting try pressing either F2, Esc, F1, F8 or F10 (in the split second as the lap top boots up it should provide a message stating which key to press to enter settings)

That link that you posted wouldnt come up. And i tried all u said but with no luck, so got any more ideas???

And another problem plz:
