To locate the path where name of the user who logged in to system in windows

Actually i am working on a project : Attendence Review System

When client(student) logs into the computer, his attendence in labs is marked at the server.To do this, i need to know has logged into system. That is, i need to know where is the name of the person who logged into the system is stored.

Can anyhelp suggest me?

So you can see who is logged on at any given time? On the server right click>my computer>manage>shared folders>sessions. And if you gone down a folder to open files you can see which folders they are accessing.

how to identify in client side which user has logged into the system >because the client porgram has to identify the user who has logged in. So, where is the username sored in windows?
