New Member, Same Problem... No sound!

Hello Software Tips and Tricks Forum,

I am a new member to this forum and it would seem as though I have the same computer problems as many of you. I have upgraded my OS to Windows XP Pro and everything seems fine except my computer does not have any sound. When I check the Device Manager it indicates that Multimedia Audio Controller and Video Controller (VGA Compatible) are not installed (Code 28) (they both have a yellow question mark in front of them). In the Device Manager’s sound, video and game controllers I can see Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, Legacy Video Capture Drivers, Media Control Devices, and Video Codecs.

Upon reading previous messages, I downloaded Belarc Advisor which gave me the following information about my computer.

System Model
AOpen MX46-800N
System Serial Number: 12
Enclosure Type: Desktop

Main Circuit Board
Board: AOpen MX46-800N 9189U10007
Serial Number: 35310981KN77

I am pulling my hair trying to figure this out. Can anyone please help me restore my sanity?

Thank you very much snowmonkey!!!

After searching through AOpen’s website, I decided to install the entire list of drivers available for the MX46-800N motherboard. At first it seamed that nothing was working but try and try again and I finally have sound!

Thanks again for your help.
