keeping your computer safe

I have had a virus on my computer that crashed everything and i had to start everything from scratch. What type of programs should i get for my computer to keep it safe and clean. Like anti-virus and spyware removal.

Hi, this topic will open some debate. There are many good programs so what I use is AVG free http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download...virus/us/frt/0
Superanti spyware http://www.superantispyware.com/
Keep every thing uptodate and run scans often also keep XP updated through security centre in control panel.
Back up all your docs and save them to a cd or a flash drive.
