Scrolling problems

Recently, I was in a folder browsing my mp3s. The folder is quite large, several thousand files, and every now and then after scrolling a while, the folder 'refreshes' and resets back to the first file, and I loose my current position within that folder. Has anybody else had a problem like this? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

If you're scrolling by 'dragging' the scroll-bar, try scrolling with the scroll-wheel of your mouse instead (assuming it has one). You'll need to make sure the mouse-pointer is inside the window you want to scroll with the mouse-wheel. No special driver is required. If your mouse has a scroll-wheel it should work just fine with Windows own driver.

Perhaps I didn't explain myself clearly enough. (I'm terrible at that.) I scroll down, rename some files, browse the internet, switch to Windows Media Player, whatever, then I come back to the folder, look through it some more, and it will suddenly 'refresh' (I use this word because it acts as if I pressed F5) and I will lose my position in the folder. It will bring me back to the first file.

It even happens if I don't switch windows, I scroll down, (usually clicking the wheel and moving the mouse down, but sometimes just scrolling the wheel) and it will jump back to the top of the folder. It is though it refreshes every five seconds or something.
