reformated computer, speakers woulnt work

I recently ran into some problems and had to reformat my computer. I am using windows XP corporate edition and I have noticed that now my computer is not registering that I have speakers connected to the computer, and they worked just fine before I had to reinstall windows. Ive gone into device manager but I have no idea what I am really looking for. There is not even a sound icon in my tray any more. Any and all help is greatly appriciated.

1. i see that the sound drivers are not installed.
