Problem with direct x

hey i decided to update my directx but my own stupidity got the better of me and i installed directx 10. now none of my games work and iv tried every thing sides deleting it manualy to get rid of it. i did a system restor and i even downloaded directx 9c off the microsoft web site. and it didnt wok so im out of ideas. iv also tried add remove programs

looks like bad news -- all the sources I've read say DX10 can't be uninstalled.
Time for a fresh install of XP I think.

I agree, I looked for a solution yesterday and could not find one.

but will reinstalling windows affect my files also my compy took like 7 hours to download updates will they be affected also im not to sure how to reinstall windows
