A family member of mine had given me her tower because she bought a new one. Her father had built it for her and had an administrator on it that she didn't know the password for. As a result, some of my games wouldn't work, even a few for my children. It was running on Window 2000 Professional. I rebooted Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2. Instead of putting it on another partition I just formatted the first one. Now it's telling me that I have no sound device, when it worked before. I scanned my computer using Berlarc Advisor and under the Drivers it's only showing my CD ROM drive, floppy drive, and hard drive. It also says that there are no details available for the system model, but I do know that it's a ASUS motherboard. Under Other Devices, this is what it lists:
- USB Human Interface Device
- Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard
- HID-compliant mouse
- Microsoft PS/2 Mouse
- USB Root Hub (3x)
Under Multimedia, it says there's none detected. I have been searching for days and can't find anything that would help me fix this problem. I know that the speakers work. I've hooked my old computer back up and the sound works. Whenever an error pops up the speakers beep. Can anyone please help me?
