Exclamation Can't access D-Link DGL-4300 Gaming Router :/

Hello!

Here's my problem: My dad bought a D-Link gaming router (Gamer Lounge DGL-4300) about 3 months ago. About a week after we installed the new router, I could no longer access the router settings, and I have not been able to since. I am using Firefox for this, but I have also tried using IE. It will sometimes get to the login page, but it usually doesn't get that far. It seems that when I try to access the router settings, it disconnects me from the network, because I can't do anything that uses the internet until about 30 seconds later. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on an ASUS F3KA-A1 laptop. My brother (who is using a custom-built desktop running Windows XP Home) has no problems accessing the new router settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

*EDIT*: I am using Wireless on my laptop, and my brother's computer is connected directly to the router through a LAN cord.

I would check if there is new firmware available for the router. Go to the manufacturers website and check the support/downloads for this router. If so, use your bro's machine to access the settings page, and update the firmware with the file you downloaded.

I have seen drops happen before with wireless routers because of poorly written firmware, so fingers crossed that will resolve the issue.

Otherwise, it could be your wireless device in your PC.
What type is that? The Netgear 108 USB's (for example) get too hot and "crash" after 5 mins! No internet is available until you let it cool down...

Alright I will try updating the firmware when my brother gets home from work tonight. Also, I have the Atheros AR5006EG Wireless Network Adapter.

I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks

Atheros is one of the chipsets that overheats (it is used in the Netgear example) I have no idea if that particular driver has the issue. If you can borrow a wireless device see if the problem still exists.

(it's always good to have an up to date firmware anyway)
