Question No CD Function

My computer profile:
Dell DM051
XP Media Center
2992 Mhz Processor
1 Gb Memory
Disk Model Maxtor 6L160M0 160 Gb.
2 CD Drives:
HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GW4164B
SONY CD-RW CRX320EE

My problem:

No CD drives indicated in "MY Computer".
No CD drives in XP System Information, yet Control Panel Device Manager shows both drives as "working properly".

I have followed instruction for deleting the upper and lower filters from the registry. That changed nothing.

Appreciate any help that works.

If you check Device Manager for these devices, and check the properties -- are they set to "Use this device - enabled"? In the device status box, does it say "This device is working properly."?

Try this, i used it when my DVD dont showed up.
I am using XP pro,
Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor.NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value, if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need to reinstall that software. If the problem recurs, consult with the software vendor for assistance.

Restart pc,en
