Windows update difficulties

I recently had to re-install XPpro/SP2. During the normal updating process SP3 was installed OK but some of the options would not install, including, for example, Media 11.

After much head scratching I finally found Article ID: 943144 which stated that Windows update contained a file for which there was no registry coreespong to this file

The aticle provides tw0 fixes, the first of which worked fine.

Your firewall and other security apps are not blocking the process?
You downloaded and installed the Windows Update Agent. Followed the instructions?

No firewaal or a/v. Raw drive and XPpro/SP2. Have a look at KB943144 which saved my life!
