help with dll files

Ok well i had to reinstall windows. but something happened...

Now i am missing dll files. alot, to many to download 1 by 1.

I dont have any money to buy one of those programs that scan ur whole pc and readds them.

So does anyone know a free program(totally free) that can help me or

does anyone know a list of all the dll files that xp uses. and maybe some way i can download all on the list at once.\\\

Thanks for the help

Depends on what they are for. System files, VB runtimes, that sort of thing.
Don't go downloading dlls from unknown sources. You don't know how authentic they are, plus they may cause problems.

If it's system files, then the first action is to enter "sfc.exe /scannow" at a command prompt. You need the CD, or a location where the install files are, since it isn't a requirement to have an actual cd..

Post a list.

Ok. i tryed doing the sfc.exe /scannow

it worked but it didnt seem to do anything

it went to a loading bar and did something
but nothing happened and it never asked for a cd or where the files were located. i was reading online and trying to figure it out. but i dont understand what to do.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Soo now since that isnt working I am going think about more options.

The first is to just get the computer working again
- i dont care if i lose all of my files or what not i just need it to be at 100% again

So idc if i lose all of my files i just need the thing to work again.

(i really need this pc to work..)

When you run sfc, it scans for missing or altered/corrupted files and replaces them. It can take some time to finish.

Does the installer say it can't copy file this or that, but gives the option to continue?

Windows files are missing.
You could look on the restore CD.
Click the browse button. There should be a file name shown. What is it?

Despite windows advances, It's still quite numb when It comes to driver ops.
Navigate to your restore CD and see if you can find the file being looked for. It is also worth looking in C:\windows\system32, and also the subfolder, drivers.

There's a manual way to search. Let me know if you want to try it.
