Windows won't boot on my Sony Vaio

When I turn on my computer it came up with the screen that tells you that the computer was not shut down correctly and to choose an option on how to start up.
I have tried all options on starting the computer from normal start up, to safe mode and none of them work, they all revert bact to that screen.

I called Sony support and he told me to press F10 at start up to go to reconfiguration screen, but the only option it gives me is the complete internal reboot/set-up for the C: which will wipe out everything i have on my comp.

I have some stuff I haven't had a chance to back up on there and would really like to get it back.


Any ideas or suggestions on how to get it back???? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Just because you PC does not boot doesn't mean the data is lost and you know that, right........there are couple of options:

1- Parallel installation of Windows XP, follow the instruction on the URL:

2- Remove the hard drive and attach it to another PC and do a backup...that requires you to purchase a IDE converter cable for Laptop drive, like the one on this URL: http://www.datapro.net/products/lapt...e-adaptor.html

I would go with second option but it's all up to you if you feel comfortable removing the laptop drive.
