Booting Error

I'm begging for anyone's help! Here's the basics of my system. I have a Sony Vaio that was running Windows XP SP2. The graphics card I installed myself is a Geforce FX 5200 .

Here's what happened.

- I attempted to install SP3 but during the installation, my computer suddenly rebooted. The computer automatically began installing the previous settings and everything reverted back to normal. It later told me that the error was due to my graphics card and to check for drivers. I did but none were available.

- I tried to install SP3 again. I walked away from the computer for a minute or two only to come back and see it booting again after the installation failed. I figured the same thing had happened as before. So the login screen comes up and I type in my password, but then I get this immediately...

"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click on OK to terminate the application"

And the heading of this box says "Explorer.EXE - Application Error"

Now when I click OK, all I see is my background and nothing else. Nothing I do brings up anything. Its literally just my background and the mouse. I tried in several of the other modes like safe mode and I still get the same thing. Does anyone have any idea what I can do? I'll try and answer any questions you have, I'm just begging for some help!

Remove the video card and try another, or maybe you have onboard video.?
If it works, refit the nvidia and see how you go.

I don't think it actually has to do with the video card, because the error is with explorer.exe. I think I might try installing another XP on the system but I'm not sure if I like the idea of partioning my drives and having one OS just be worthless. I'm trying to see if I can fix my former OS before I install a new one.

The installer specifically mentions the video. It's a starting point, don't you think?
Try the settings in the bios to make sure the card is driven properly.
