Windows XP updates won't install!

I recently had a trojan plus some ad-ware/spyware on my computer. I managed to remove them but because of the damage they did I had to perform a repair install on my computer to fix some problems with my registry. After the repair install whenever Windows detects updates it downloads them, but when it tries to install them it fails. The following updates that it cannot install are:

Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - May 2008 (KB890830)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB920683)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB943055)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB896428)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB905749)
Update for Windows XP (KB930916)
Critical Update for Windows XP (KB886185)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB943485)
Update for Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP (KB939683)
Update for Windows Media Format 11 SDK for Windows XP (KB929399)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB941568)
Update for Windows XP (KB922582)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB901214)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB905414)
Security Update for Windows XP (KB930178)

Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it? Is there any information that I need to supply? Thanks for taking the time to read over my problem.
