MULTIMEDIA AUDIO CONTROLLER - no sound :(

i have no sound! please help!
when i go into My computer > Manage > Device Manager > Other Devices there is Multimedia Audio Controller with yellow question mark and exclamation mark next to it. i have gone through forums downloading various things such as Vinyl Deck and doing windows media updates, but still nothing.
Under Driver Status it says
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

It also says the manufacturer is unknown and the location is: PCI bus 0, device 17, function 5.

Any ideas on how to get my sound working. i have no CD's etc as my brother installed all the things for the computer and took the discs with him when he moved out. i have asked him for help several times but he's never any help and hasnt done anything in over 6 months.

if anyone has experienced this problem or knows how to reslove it, would be so grateful, no sound is more annoying than you think! lol

This should be all you want, manual, drivers bios. Site is under maintenance as I speak, so I couldn't get any further.
