I am not sure if this is what fixed my issue, but windows media player for the last 3 mo would not open. I would click on the program icon and it would act like it was going to open then nada. I found this link
to fix a problem with my user account access window being blank and it seems to have ressurected windows media player. Now i have been working on a couple of other issues however, so this may not be the 'fix' but it is worth a try.
It is windows scripting. Did you delete some files?
