Help! In constant windows xp Reinstall cycle

Hey Everyone,

First post, I tried searching the site, but couldn't quite find what I wanted.

Here is my problem, I replaced my motherboard and vid card, so I reformatted my HD. I put my XP cd in, format the HD, run through the install, complete the set up (the little yellow progress bar fills up), computer restarts (sometimes) and then when it reboots where it should progress to the next segment of xp install, it goes right back to the beginning of XP install (DOS). Im stuck in a permanent loop. Any Ideas what could be happening? Thanks in advance

Ian

What service pack level is the CD?

Try the bios on safe settings, if they exist and let it boot. If the same happens....

This is not a recommended action but try it.
Boot from the CD again. When asked about pressing F6, press F5 instead. Select "standard PC. Proceed and see what happens.

Disk,

Thanks for the suggestions, which I tried, but same thing still happens, with going through initial blue screen DOS setup, the computer reboots, and starts me right back over from the beginning. Any other ideas?

i would guess its SP1, because each of the last 3 or 4 times ive re installed, i had to go through auto updates to install SP2. But i have been successfull each other time i have done this, so this is why im so confused. this is the second time i have switched motherboards, so not sure why things aren't going right now.

Give it a chance mate.
Make sure your hard drive is clean. I mean delete any partitions on it and do a full format when installing.
