Installation problems

I have recently had my laptop fixed, it had to have windows reinstalled and everything seems to be working fine except I cant seem to install any software onto it now, with the exception of Firefox everything else i've tried to install is unsuccesful, it processes the installation and says its completed but then says Not installed. This has been the case with all windows live updates, iTunes (won't open the installer just sends error report) and windows live messenger and also my norton antivirus software. The computer was completely formatted and I've no idea what it could be

Any ideas?
Thanks

No, it starts processing the installation and then literally 5 seconds later says the following updates were not installed and lists all the updates it asked me to install in the first place. Nothing seems to want to install.

Here is a auto update fix from MS as for the rest if it still doesnt work after the updates I would create another admin user account and try from there.

I've already tried both those methods and unfortunately they didn't work either. I'm thinking maybe trying to reinstall windows again is my only option Any other ideas at all?
