Angry Administrator restrictions

I bought a used computer with Windows Xp last month and am fed up with all of the restrictions on programs I try to run. I cannot log on as an administrator, so it won't allow me to install programs like AOL Instant Messenger. Is there any way to override the stupid thing or do I have to buy a whole new version of windows? Please help me!

did you get the windows XP disc with it?? if not then you are snookered, you can do nothing unless you can get the password.

all you can do is reformat the computer what type of XP is is it xp corp? if it si and you do not have the disc all you ahve to do is borrow someones corp disc to reinstall but use your own product key that way you are not doing nothing wrong. to find your product key ther is a cool little tool made by a Russian it is called

view/key xp i have it on disc it is cool.

or download THIS KEY FINDER

Was it branded computer?

With branded computer you don't get "Official" Windows XP CD but if you run their restore CD's with "Full Restore" option selected, it will install a fresh version of Windows XP.

it's the official version. I bought it from a computer programmer who had installed the full version. I asked him what to do and he said just to use it how it is, but I can't stand the restrictions. If I get another version of windows and try to install it, will it work? or do i have to be an administrator to do that?

no you do not have to be an admin to install windows if you get youir own disc.

if you by XP full you can just boot up with the disc in the drive from there follow the prompts and you can reformat your drive and do a nice clean install.

are you going to get XP or are you going to get 98se or something else, if you get 98/se you will have to make a boot disc to format your drive first then you can install 98/se.

if you can try and get yourself XP although it is expensive sadly
