Reformat problem

Ok so I did the complete reformated for my computer and I am trying to connect to the internet but the only connection I have is a 1394 connection which I found out is always on and is not related to the internet. I tried to make a new connection but I get an error 769- the destination is not reachable. When I put my network cable in my computer makes no response that I did anything. My guess is that I need to dl the modem drivers from my producers website? I have a gateway amd sempron computer.

Do you use Modem to connect to Internet ? do you have the modem driver installed?

Go to Device manager for find out if you have any device in there with red or yellow exclamation mark (that mean, device either does not have the proper driver OR system resources are not configured properly for the device)
Learn how to go to device manager:

Furthermore, Please provide the full made and model number or your PC so correct driver could be located on Gateway site.

Cheers

I do use a modem to connect to the internet. I do have a yellow question mark with an exclamation point in device manager in the other devices category: ethernet controller, network controller, and pci modem. The mass storage, multimedia audio controller, sm bus, and video controller are also question mark-yellow dot. For some reason I can't download the drivers from gateway's website here's the link: http://support.gateway.com/support/d...os=10406&type=

My model is a Gateway MX6436

it seem like you have done your research(well done) and found the drivers. I was able to download couple of the drivers for test and it worked for me !.....are you at your work place? if so, you may not have the rights to download. Send the link to a friend and ask them to download for you.

Cheers
