Not all CDs work with XP Pro SP1 2002 Version

Not all CDs that I own work with my Gateway Solo 5300, Windows XP Pro SP1 2002 Version. Why is this? It isn't my CD drive, because it worked perfectly in Windows 2000 and Windows ME. Also, when I insert some blank CD-RWs, it doesn't recognize that it is a blank disk. Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 doesn't even recognize it. Is it Windows or is it just me?

I had ECDC% bundled with my burner and had a bad time with it I've got 3 wind chimes to prove it. The only thing I can think of is a conflict. Besides XP, have you installed new software? ECDC does't play nice with other burning programs. Just a shot in the dark

There are known compatibility issues between Windows XP and versions of Easy CD Creator earlier than version 5.1.

Good catch. I just got Nero and added Roxio's disc to the chime. Didn't know too much at the time. Strange tho, XP's backup program is licenced from Roxio.
