Good one snooker, SP3 seems to have played havoc with AMD systems, seen this problem a lot on other forums.

Two AMD and Three Intel had the service pack applied. No problems. I had some clicking to do as I left my background apps running.
Symantecs soft was doing it's job. Same as Teatimer and Outpost were doing their respective jobs on mine.
If protective applications were taken out of the loop before installing it, the problem wouldn't be as bad.
Partly down to M$ boffins to check first for known protection tools still running, and offering advice to temporarily disable them, or select the required protection policy, but mainly It's the users. Or should I say, lack of education of users, since the majority wouldn't know how to proceed when presented with the information.
What I mean, is that the installation could have fouled up without symantec anywhere in sight.

I agree . It make you wonder what MS sometimes is really up to . They must of knew this was going to happen beforehand . Maybe that why MS is giving free tech support for sp3 issues .

Yep. Why not include a link that based on the detected soft, explained the errors that could occur, which vendor to contact, or what to do to prevent problems.
Irresponsible, laziness, or just lax attitude to other people?
