You should download and install the latest drivers for your sound card. If it's a intergrated sound card (built into your motherboard) then you should be able to get the drivers from the motherboard manufacturers website.

If it's a peripheral sound card then you can get the drivers from the sound card manufacturers website.

it's not showing the motherboard Get Everest, copy and paste the Computer / Summary section

Open Everest - expand Computer - select Summary - select Report - Quick Report - HTML . The report opens, using mouse hold the left button and starting at all above Debug-PCI - highlight all the text - when highlighted right click mouse - select Copy
Then open post – right click mouse – select Paste and the report will insert.

you need to check the BIOS to see if audio is set to auto

All commands are done using the keyboard, click images to focus

to enter BIOS press the <Del> key as soon as the comp boots - the maim menu will open
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...6AM%20Main.JPG

use down arrow key to select Integrated Peripherals - then press Enter key
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...ter%20Perp.JPG

down arrow key to select Via OnChip PCI Device - press Enter key
http://www.overclockeddoc.com/bookwo...e%20P erp.JPG

Via-3058 AC97 should be set to Auto - if Disabled use the + key to change

Pess F10 key to save & Exit

y key to accept changes

XP will load

install audio driver again

Set a System Restore Point before installing drivers just in case
Start instructions / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a Restore point and follow

was audio [Enabled] in the BIOS or do you mean you could not set it ?

set a System Restore Point, as I am not 100% sure this driver will work, no drivers at Acorp, but this is the Via AC'97 audio driver http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx...SubCatID =104

To install the driver, save any unsaved work and close all applications then click on the driver download link (above). Choose the "Save File" option and save it to your folder under Windows where you file your drivers. Unzip the file. (To unzip the file right click and highlight "Extract All") Then double click on the Setup.exe file to run the installation program. Follow the prompts and restart at the end of the installation.
