AOL and Internet Explorer Conflict Problems

I am using AOL to connect to the internet and had always just used Internet Explorer to browse because I wasnt very fond of the AOL browser, this was working fine for a long time, now everytime I try to open Internet Explorer it says Page Cannot be displayed.

I also cannot enter Yahoo chat, it wont even load the room list and when I try to use the audibles I cannot choose More Audibles I can only use the ones that are already there. I was attempting to clean my buddylist off earlier today and checked the box to remove them from my address book as well and that wouldnt work either, it deleted them from the list but said there was a problem connecting to the server to delete them from my address book.

My browser within AOL works fine but I would like to have internet explorer fixed as well as being able to fully use Yahoo once again. It seems as though I cannot do anything that requires the internet outside of AOL.

Anybody know what could be the problem?

My friend told me he's got almost the same problem, he has no problem to browse most of the web sites, only his home page which presets in the Internet Explorer. He told me he clear all tempoary files, cookies, set a new preset home page, search for virsu or spyware and even re-install the Internet Explorer, but still it can't help.
I checked the machine for him and found everything is fine, what I tried is using Real Player to browse that web site (couldn't visit using by IE). It works fine!! So, I'm so sure that the IE has problem.
Second thing I did is to check the connection setting in IE, Tool / Connection Options / Connection. In his case, he had two ways to get online, one is by modem and the other one is by PPPoE. He used to use PPPoE, so I removed the connection by modem. Guest what?! now the IE can go to the web site (couldn't browse before).
I'm not sure you guys have the same problem or what, but at least my friend's problem is fixed now.

I also had this problem with IE, have you checked to see what your homepage is set to. Tools - Internet Options - General tab - Home Page:-. You can get this information from your AOL browser by useing their tools.

Just a thought, in IE use Google search for AOL co.uk this will show link AOL.CO.UK| HOME when you open the link if you are amember you can sign in, if successful then go to tools and set as your home page. Don't know if it will work but I have used this work around a few times with Bt.yahoo.

Worth a try.

Dear ArchEagle,
I am having the SAME EXACT problem as you. Everything inside of the AOL browser works perfectly (except for the media player and the radio). Internet Explorer won't work, nor will Windows Media Player or iTunes. Nothing outside of the AOL software is able to access the internet. In IE, it says that the 'website has been found' but it still fails to load. Somebody help us, this is really aggrivating.
