Help with sound please!

I recently reformatted my computer, and everything works fine, although downloading takes a little bit longer than usual, but the sound doesn't work.
Multimedia Audio Controller is in my device manager, but it was a yellow question mark and I'm not quite sure what that means. I've tried to go into Advanced Volume Controls but it says: There are no active mixer devices available. To install Mixer drivers, go to Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Add Hardware. This program will now close.

I've tried to do what it says, but after add hardware I don't know what to do.

This is what I could get from Belarc Advisor:

check to see if Realtek is default audio

Check Control Panel/ Sound & Audio Devices/ Audio tab/ Sound Playback click on down arrow and check that the correct audio is selected. Typically the problem will be they something like "modem line 0 playback" might have been substituted for the proper audio device.

Still no change. The SiS OnChip PCI Device was already enabled. Is there any other possible thing that I may have overlooked during reformatting for it to be like this?

check this out

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Component Services / a separate window will open – in left pane click Services(Local) from the tree / Scroll down to Windows Audio service / if the service is Disabled or Manual right click > select Properties > under Startup Type change to Automatic > click Apply / click Start > OK Reboot

go here to MSI and install the SiS System Drivers(650/651) - then Restart your comp.
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?f...=1&prod_no=303

then install audio from MSI

Set a System Restore Point before installing EACH driver just in case
Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore / select Create a Restore point and follow instructions

need more info, make and model, if not sure Get Belarc, copy and paste the report, omit the Software section, it gives Product Codes for your OS and the Windows Critical Updates.
