Angry Power Options Properties

XP Pro Power Options Properties only has three of the five tabs. Power Schemes, Advanced and Hibernate. The APM and UPS are missing. Been trying to solve this for quite some time. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the forum CopperNose

Can we assume you are using a laptop?

Has this problem only just started?

Have you installed any new software?

What steps have you taken to solve the problem?

Give us as much info as possible CopperNose

My laptop power settings: Power schemes/Alarms/Power meter/Advanced/Hibernate

My desktop power settings: Power schemes/Advanced/Hibernate/UPS

So it looks as if you only have UPS missing.

Looking at the Microsoft knowledge base, there is no mention of missing icons in any part of the control panel.
I found a reference to missing icons in NT and a few references to sp2, but nothing for xp pro.
So i did a Google search and found that the UPS is not even needed.

This obviously does not solve your problem. At this moment in time i am lost for an answer but i will keep looking and if i find a solution before you, i will let you know.

Please keep us informed of your progress

I looked all over to fix this and for those finding this board on the same search (four years later!!!) I found the proper registry edit here:

http://forums.msrportal.com/archive/...p?t-19885.html

Here it is cut-n-pasted;

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\UPS
Value Name: ShowUPSTab
Data Type : REG_DWORD
Data : 1 to show UPS tab, 0 to hide the UPS tab

I have WinXP and it worked great.
