Question chkdsk being cancelled all the time

Hello,
I am on Windows XP SP2.
Windows has scheduled a chkdsk at system boot, but something is canceling it automatically.
Every time I restart Windows, it tries to run a chkdsk but never succeed because it is being automatically cancelled.
Windows says it better to run it and no matter how many times I try to schedule it, it is being cancelled.
Is there a way to find what’s canceling it and how to make sure it runs?
Where is the file that contains chkdsk command anyway?
Thanks.

The only reason I can think of that chkdsk would be canceled is if the 'Volume was Clean' or if a key was being pressed before the countdown had finished.

You can run chkdsk within windows (although to do a thorough scan you would need reboot the system and use chkdsk before the system starts up). Simply type cmd into the Run dialog box, once the black box has appeared type chkdsk.

Another way of running the chkdsk tool in full is to use the recovery console.

Have a look at your screensaver / power options

Way back when things were simple and we all used W98 that was the single biggest cause of chkdsk no completing.

ANYTHING that writes to the hard drive cancels it

Hope that is a help

That sounds curious. I'll investigate more on that.
