Angry 2 problems: battery and restart

Let's see if I can get a two for one here!

1. Got a battery problem. According to my computer, my battery is at full power, 100% but my laptop won't run without the A/C adapter. If I pull the plug, the computer dies. It will not run on just the battery. I don't know if I need a new battery or if there some other internal problem. Does anyone know if there is a way to discover the problem? Maybe running some sort of scan or something? Or am I gonna have to take this to a professional?

2. My computer will not restart at all. When I select the restart option from the start menu, nothing happens. When Windows Update finishes updating and I have to restart, it will not restart. It won't even shutdown from the start menu option. The only ways I can shut it down is by pulling the plug (see problem 1) or holding down the power button. Any idea how to fix this?

Please HELP!!

#1 According to the symptoms, It's pretty obvious your battery has died and needs replacement.

#2 Inconsistent power supply can cause a plethora of problems; you should fix problem #1 and see what happens first.

(I'd recommend googling how to use and recharge rechargeable batteries in order to get the longest lifespan from them.)

Thumbs down thanks.....i guess

thanks for the tips, didnt have to be a dick about it though. Pardon me for not being a "genius" about computers. that last little snide comment of yours was not needed. Just wanted to see if there was anything else I could try before buying a new battery but I guess not. Thanks and good luck with that whole living in your parents basement thing.

WTF? What snide comment?

It appeared to me that you weren't aware of the signs that your battery had expired and you might also not know that there are ways you can extend the lifespan of a replacement, such as making sure it's run down completely flat often to negate any memory effect and how often and for how long to charge it et al.

FYI single English bloke living and working in Bangkok for the last 10 years and just trying to help out those who ask for it.

Best of luck with that paranoia thing.
