help me please . . CONTROL/ALT/DELETE will not work?

help me please . . CONTROL/ALT/DELETE will not work?

I NEED SOME HELP!!!
When i press 'control/alt/delete' to bring up the windows task manager box it appears for about 1/2 a second then disappears.

In my toolbar (next to the clock) a little green box appears when i move my mouse cursor over it, it dissapears.
is there a setting i may have changed or could an installed program done summat to it???
Any idea's anyone.

hi there i have found a post in another forum with someone with the same problem...it refers to a virus called 'yaha'... unfortunatley it does not tell me how to resolve my problem!!!

I do have 'norton anti virus' and the updates ran out in march so it should have the definitions but it doesnt find any virus's on my system
anyone got any ides on what i have to do to resolve this??

i found this at norton anti virus site!!!

i ran the download they offer but it didnt find any virus!!!

anyone ever had a problem like this or should i just use my recovery disc and reinstall xp .. .will that get rid of this problem????

Can you bring up Task Manager by right-clicking your task bar and selecting "Task Manager"?

same thing happens.... it appears for half a second then it disapears and a little green boc appears next to my clock which disapears whemn i move my mouse cursor over it!!!

I am backing up all my stuff at the moment im gonna reinstall windows tonight!

I doubt that a System Restore would fix this, but you might as well try it first.

You might be able to do a repair rather than reinstall, but if you go for the reinstall don't forget your bookmarks and e-mail.

And have a plan ready for getting back on the internet. Broadband, preferably, since you're going to be doing a lot of downloading of updates.

hey there
done the re-install .... .problem has gone ...forgot to save all my internet favourites though "doh"
everythins good now .. . took me most a the day an a littlwe help from a mate.
getting broadband on saturday so i will leave me windows updates till then
had to download a xcouple of programs n patches but all is good now...

One thing i am a bit worried about though is that i totally wiped my hard driive and re-installed XP but i didnt have to register or enter my serial number for XP !!!
I used the disc that came with me pc (got it from dell)
Is this normal????

Yes, it's normal as long as you're using the same disk in the same computer. If you do it alot, you may get a prompt to call Microsoft to explain what you're doing.
