Home page tabs

Howdy, this is my first post. I searched but didn't see anything.
Got a problem with my home page tab and adding a start page to my list of addresses.
The option- in Internet options is locked and there is a note that settings are controlled by system admin.
How do I unlock this "home page" option?
Thank you for any help!

Is the "Use Current" button available? If so navigate to the site you wish to use as your Hompage, then open options and click "Use Current".

Is this your own personal computer or one at work?

This is my home/work computer. "Use current" isn't available. The bottom of the box has a blue "i" logo next to some settings are managed by system administrator. Click on that it goes to contents help, something about group policy. I looked into group policy section, nothing I could see
to unlock the home page tab there at all.

Might I guess that it's been supplied by your office and the home page is probably that designated by your company?

If so, your system administrator has disabled home page changes and the only way you can change it is to ask him to do it for you (try a beer you never know).

Though, if it is your own personal computer, I can't imagine how you got in this position as it's not a default setting and you're using a Limited User Account. To enable the option again you need to log on using the Administrator Account and remove the Group Policy for this setting from within Administrative Tools.

Look here to learn more.

Sorry, just in case there's another reason for it.

Can you run "gpedit.msc" (start -> run -> type gpedit.msc -> enter (or find it in the windows/system32 folder)?

If you can, expand User Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Internet Explorer

Scroll down on the right until you see "Disable changing home page settings" right-click and choose properties.

You can now disable or change the setting.
