Dialup Networking Pop Up

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and have what I hope is a simple question.

I recently networkied a Windows XP Pro system with a Windows ME system using a simple hub and the Home Networking Wizard that ships with Windows. Both systems have there own internal 56k modem which is used to connect to the internet. I'm not interested in sharing the connection but my problem is as follows. Everything works perfectly with the ME machine but on the XP Pro machine the dialup networking box pops up on the screen as though I'm trying to connect to the internet when in reality I'm not. I close the box only to have it popup minutes later. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this? Everything was fine before running the Home Networking Wizard. Could this be caused be XP trying to share the connection in some way? Thanks so much for any help that you can give!!!

Press ctrl - alt - del for the task manager and see if you can spot a program that might be trying to access the internet for some reason. Also check the quick start tray for a hidden icon that is trying to access the internet. Also check on your ME machine as it could be trying to connect also and using the XP machine to do so.
I'm just guessing here, could it be caused by the way you set up the network. Since i dont know anything about networks, I advise you to have a look at the way you set it up again, and check that you didnt involve in anyway the 56k modems on either machine.
