I use AOL for my ISP - lately it just seems to be really slow in getting started !! It runs at a fair speed eventually - Is there any adjustment I can make on my pc to allow a quicker access and running ???

Any help would be really appreciated - Thanks !!!

You need to post more information like dial up/dsl/cable modem, etc... What exactly is your slow down - downloading/uploading/etc... The more info you provide, the better people can help you here. I have learned alot from reading posts here. Also need system specs. Good luck.

Unhappy

Thanx for replying - 56k modem nothing flash.
AOL used to pop straight up on the screen - now it seems to take a few mins before you can go to the first website.

Not up on this stuff enough to know the ins and outs of my system - i'm pretty new to this !!!

Any ideas at all would be helpful !!

Thanks..

Do you have automatic updates turned on (Microsoft or some other antivirus software) that might be downloading at the same time when you start up your internet. If the updates are large enough, it would take you forever to surf. Good luck.

Well, if you see microsoft windows updates in the taskbar, right click it and then click never check for new updates (or words to that affect). If it's not there, navigate to Windows Update in the control panel, double click, and do the same. (Sorry if that's too sketchy but i've only just woken up
