I have a pretty bad network issue.
Hello all.
I'm running a newer computer using Windows XP 64 bit, with Service Pack 2.
I recently purchased the computer, and it came loaded with Windows Vista. I don't much like Vista, so I installed Fedora 9 onto it. Well, it was my birthday recently and I got some games that can't run under wine, so I decided that I'd switch to windows. My network is absolutely fine under linux, and it was fine under Vista when I first got it. I tried windows XP 64 bit first, and the network card started failing. It kept randomly dropping connection. I'm not sure why, so I tried Vista.. same problem. Wireless and Wired. When the connection drops on my pc, it stays online on all the computers on this network.
Any insight, or some such other would be greatly appreciated. The two network cards I have tested thus far are as follows.
Ralink Tech 802.11 b/g USB wireless adapter.
Realtek Semiconductor Co. RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC
I have installed the drivers from the manufacturer, updated through Windows Update, rolled back the drivers, disabled services that may interfere, disabled firewalls/third party programs. I still come to no avail and request help. The wired connection has even dropped 5 times during the writing of this message.
Thank you for your time.
