sony viao pcg-661l wont start

I have a sony viao pcg-661l. The problem is the charge light is on, and the power button will turn it on for a moment. But then it will auto shut off. The previous user said he cought a virus. What virus could cause this? And how can it be fixed. The few times it has powered on it wont read from a disk to reformat. But it is rare to get it to power on for any amount of time.

hi, i had same problem on a mates pc,it was very badly infected, they are a bugger to sort out because the hard drives located under the key pad (im sure its the same model) and a job to get out to format on another pc, it took 3 hours just to get it to start up and use an ultimate boot disk that i have, will it get into safe mode?, you can run spy/virus scanners from there,hit power and keep tapping f8 or f5 i think to get into safe. the main problem is even if you do get it to run it wont run long enough to stay on the net to download spy/virus software and you might have to get an ultimate boot disk,i got a really good one off ebay for obout 7 quid which puts a sort of fake xp with loads of stuff like spybot and virus scanners that you can run from there, you put it in the cd tray then power up and it auto runs... good luck.

if it gets you going youll have to work quick,if it is virus idd use avast but idd run superantispyware to get rid of trojans etc and ccleaner to clean the hd out, make sure there isnt more than 1 virus scanner on the pc,they dont like it,i also use spywarebegone,both have background running, this pc can be sorted,just keep tryin mate.
